Chloroquine: what is known about the substance

Bolsonaro also said that the substance can be applied even before diagnosis, because the result can take:

Mandetta disagrees
At a press conference on Wednesday, Mandetta said that prescribing chloroquine to patients who have just experienced symptoms and especially who have not yet been diagnosed with coronavirus can lead to complications.

The minister also explained that the prescription of chloroquine for elderly patients can also generate complications, since this age group that has more health complications and the substance “can cause cardiac arrhythmia, need admission to the ICU and have myocardial infarction ”

In the interview, Bolsonaro emphasized that chloroquine should only be used with a prescription and expressed concern over an exaggerated search for the substance:
