The country’s new state-owned company will be the result of the Infraero division. The signature was informed by the General Secretariat of the Presidency, and the text should be published in an extra edition of the “Official Diário da União” this Thursday.

The government did not report the budget or the personnel transfer forecast for NAV Brazil in 2021.

The authorization to create the new public company was proposed by the government itself in 2019, in a provisional measure later approved by Congress. The law stipulates that NAV Brasil can contract on a celetista basis, but with selection by public competition.

The new state-owned company will be established with 100% of the Union’s capital stock, but the authorization law also opens space for the company to become a mixed capital company, that is, to incorporate private capital in the coming years.

“The creation of NAV Brasil SA reinforces the relevance of air navigation services, optimizing the organization of the air transport sector,” says material released by the government. With the division, Infraero will be responsible for the airport infrastructure and NAV Brasil, for the air navigation services.

Also according to the government, the break is “mere specialization, rationalization and efficiency gains”, and does not represent an increase in the State’s participation in the economy.
