SÃO PAULO – In a visit to São Paulo’s Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais (Ceagesp), President Jair Bolsonaro said that the federal government will send a bill to Congress to allow the “exclusion of illegality” of the military police.

– God willing, with the new presidency of the Chamber and the Senate, we will put the exclusion of illegality on the agenda. Because the policeman has to go home to rest and fulfill his mission, and not wait for the bailiff to visit – he declared.

He then gave a “message to the hypocrites,” referring to the Carandiru massacre, in which 111 prisoners were killed by the São Paulo police.

– It is not allowed to kill, I will give you the means not to die. He will give his life, if necessary. Between the lives of a policeman and a thousand homeless people, or 111 homeless people, I’ll take that military policeman – he said.

Ceagesp privatization

Bolsonaro took advantage of the visit to the warehouse, where he opened the clock tower, to address the hundreds of supporters who came to the site, many of them employees of the company. He celebrated the change of command of the company, for which he appointed Colonel Ricardo de Mello Araújo, attacked Governor João Doria (PSDB) and affirmed that Ceagesp will not be privatized.

– And here, when it comes to privatization, I want to make it very clear: as long as he is President of the Republic, this is his home. No rat will want to dismiss this here to privatize it for their friends.

And he made a new reference to Doria below:

– They wanted to privatize so that a friend could get along. This little friend will continue to walk with his tight pants, which (Ceagesp) will not be privatized – he added.

The privatization of Ceagesp, however, is included in the National Privatization Program (PND) in 2019, of the Ministry of Economy. The proposal was agreed upon by Doria with then-Federal Government Privatization Secretary Salim Mattar, who left office in August. The document designates BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) as responsible for the process. Ceagesp is a federal public company, linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
