“Emergency assistance starts early next week (sic), on the 4th or 5th [de abril]. There are four more quotas of emergency aid, which is already the largest social program in the world, to attend exactly to those affected by the policy of ‘staying at home’, ‘closing everything,’ ”Bolsonaro lamented.

This year, the rules for obtaining the benefit are stricter than in 2020, when the aid paid five installments of R $ 600 and four installments of R $ 300, with double installments for women heads of household.

New emergency aid rules

Who can receive?

  • Families with per capita income of up to half the minimum wage (R $ 550) and total monthly income of up to three minimum wages (R $ 3,300);
  • Election rule for Bolsa Família members, who will be able to choose the most advantageous value among the benefits and receive only one of them.
  • Informal workers;
  • Unemployed;
  • Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI).

Who cannot receive?

  • Registered workers and public servants;
  • People who did not receive or did not transfer the amounts of emergency aid and its extension in 2020;
  • Citizens whose aid was canceled last year;
  • Beneficiaries of social security, assistance, labor legislation or federal income transfer program, with the exception of Bolsa Família and Pis / Pasep;
  • Doctors and multiprofessional;
  • Those who receive scholarships, interns and the like;
  • Those who had taxable income greater than R $ 28,559.70 in 2019 or had, as of December 31 of that year, the possession or ownership of goods or rights, including bare land, for a total value greater than R $ 300 thousand;
  • Under 18 years of age, except teenage mothers;
  • Whoever is inserted in the prison system in a closed regime or has their CPF linked, as an institution, to the granting of prison assistance.
