President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) was today (5) in a meeting with the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello. The meeting, which took place at the Ministry, was initially not on the president’s official agenda, but was included hours before it happened and lasted about an hour and a half.
As he left, the president was booed by a group of protesters, with about 20 people. They played a funeral march as the presidential convoy drove away.
Bolsonaro was called a “militiaman”, “murderer” and “bandit” by the group.
There were also supporters waiting for Bolsonaro to leave the building, who called the president. There was no confrontation between the groups.
Bolsonaro did not speak to the press and went directly from the Ministry of Health to the Palacio de la Alvorada.
Governors charge Ministry
Previously, in a meeting by videoconference with the Secretary of Health Surveillance, Arnaldo Medeiros, the governors entrusted the Ministry of Health with a vaccination schedule against covid-19 for the entire country.
According to one of the participants of the meeting, the secretary said again that the government plans to start vaccination in January. Priority should be given to professionals who are on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic in hospitals and residents of long-term care facilities for the elderly.
In the morning, in a conversation with supporters at the Planalto Palace, Bolsonaro said that “Brazil is broken” and that “it cannot do anything. The president once again downplayed the new coronavirus pandemic, saying it “is driven by the media” and hampered the government’s economic plans.
“Boss, Brazil is broken, I can’t do anything. Did you want to change the income tax table? (But) this year (2020) there was this virus that was powered by the means we have,” Bolsonaro told a supporter.
