In the face of criticism of the initiative, which has been called the “death barbecue” on social networks, since it is scheduled for the day that Brazil should reach a total of 10,000 deaths due to Covid-19, close allies of the president. They began acting behind the scenes to verify the existence of the event, which would have been a “provocation” by Bolsonaro.
Shortly after 11 a.m. This Saturday, Bolsonaro posted a video excerpt on Facebook and wrote that the barbecue he himself publicly announced is “false” and criticized the Free Movement of Brazil (MBL) for filing a lawsuit for trying to prevent the event from taking place. “Some idiotic journalists criticized the FALSE barbecue, but the MBL has outdone itself, has filed an ACTION IN JUSTICE,” he wrote.

Arriving in Alvorada late on Friday afternoon, the president scoffed at the decision to have a barbecue on-site and avoided answering questions if the event would not represent a bad example due to the need for social isolation. He jokingly stated that 1,300 people had already been confirmed for the meeting.
– Barbecue, I’m just inviting the press. He already has 180 guests, Bolsonaro told his followers, beginning an escalation of ironies about the number of people confirmed for the event:
– 210 guests already have. There are 210 heads of household, tomorrow there should be 500 people at the barbecue.
Soon after, he continued with the ironies and said that the number of confirmed had just increased.
