BRASILIA -— Minister Alexandre de Moraes paid tribute to the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Dias Toffoli, in his last session at the helm of the Court. Then Gilmar Mendes said that Toffoli’s legacy was the strengthening of democracy. Edson Fachin said Toffoli was “a Democrat who respects authority, but rejects agency.” Only after the three speeches did Toffoli invite Bolsonaro to sit on his right, in plenary session.

Bolsonaro praises Toffoli
After the speeches, Bolsonaro was given the floor, although he does not have a speech by the President of the Republic during a session of the Supreme Court in honor of one of the ministers. Bolsonaro praised the dialogue with Toffoli:

Bolsonaro recalled that he came to office by vote, while the Supreme Court ministers were appointed by the presidents of the Republic.
– I arrived here by voting and you arrived at the president’s nomination. I ask God, when the opportunity presents itself, designate someone who can cooperate with this House, with its responsibilities. Because here, many times, and not only in the Executive and Legislature, the happiness of a people and the destiny of a nation are at stake – said the President.
