Bolsonar’s activist, known as Sara Winter, said in an interview with BBC News Brasil that the extremist political group “300 do Brasil”, camped on the lawn of the Esplanada dos Ministérios in Brasilia, is armed. In the interview, this Tuesday the 12th, she affirms that the weapons are for “the group’s own protection.”

Sara, whose real last name is Geromini, told the portal: “In our group, there are members who are CACs (Collector, Shooter and Hunter), others who have weapons duly registered with the competent bodies. These weapons serve to protect members of the camp and it has nothing to do with our activism. ” However, it is unclear whether members have the right to carry firearms or simply possession.

The political group led by Sara has been the subject of competitions in the courts after suspicions of paramilitary activities. The Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL) even filed a lawsuit with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) last week to open an investigation into the movement, accusing it of forming militias.

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) decided to accept the suggestion of an investigation to find out who would be the financial assumptions of the movement, justifying that “The Brazilian Constitution prohibits the financing and / or propagation of ideas contrary to the constitutional order and the democratic State”. The Court also emphasized that the practices that sought to break the rule of law are unconstitutional.

With an extremist position, the “300 of Brazil” are led by Sara, who guides, among other actions, the “extermination of the left.” During the interview with the BBC, he stated that the movement acts under non-violent practices and that at no time did it contribute to the action of the militias or to acts that preach the invasion of the STF, even if it is against the body. On the other hand, in at least one manifestation of the group, the participants in the movement defended the violent actions and the invasion of the Supreme Court.

Sara protested questions about the transport of weapons by the group. Ironically, she mentioned the fact that members of the Landless Movement (MST) never suffered such accusations, although, according to her, they also carry weapons and machetes. When asked about the group’s objectives, Sara highlighted the recruitment of volunteers and the fight for the rescue of the “National Sovereignty”, respect for the distribution of Powers and the full implementation of the federative pact, the government of the Executive Power, without interference from a “judicial dictatorship”, represented by the STF.

Sara was defeated as a candidate for federal deputy in Rio de Janeiro in the last elections and today she calls herself an “international lecturer”. It propagates, together with the movement and on its social networks, the idea of criminalizing the actions of the left, which claims to be communist and “popular intervention”. She is also against feminism and defends the liberation of weapons by the population.

Sara did not respond to the position of the President of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro in relation to the group, but emphasized that the movement receives the moral support of the deputies of the allied base of the Government.
