Fourteen relief measures that represent an impact of R $ 18.2 million in annual collection come into effect immediately by decree or administrative act. Another 12 will be modified by law and will come into effect in 2022.

“Some taxes that are of a tributary nature, we are going to take the account of the chamber and encourage economic activity to those that have been closed for a longer time,” said Joo Antnio Fleury. More than 200,000 entrepreneurs are expected to benefit.

María Caldas added: “Our proposal is a set of measures that try to reach people and establishments in order to reduce the impact of the closure. And simplify and reduce the bureaucracy of the procedures.”

IPTU

The City Council of Belo Horizonte will extend, for the fourth time, the payment of quotas from April to December of the IPTU 2020 for companies whose Location and Operation Licenses (ALF) or operating authorizations have been suspended by Decree 17.328, of 2020.

The tax may be paid by these merchants up to 37 times, from the first installment on December 31 of this year, until December 2024.

“The last postponement was due to the transfer of the maturity to December 2021 with payment in six installments. Now, we will issue a new decree that allows payment in 37 installments. The last installment expires in December 2024, within the management of the Mayor’s second term. Alexandre Kalil, “Fleury said.

In relation to the IPTU-2021, PBH had already offered a 6% discount to the taxpayer who paid two or more installments or the total amount charged in advance. “We were pleasantly surprised that the volume paid was higher than we expected,” said the secretary.

He explains that the capital of Minas Gerais has more than 53 thousand spaces that are used by merchants. Of these, 1,500 are properties awaiting some type of commercial activity. “50% of the owners paid the IPTU in advance,” he said. Therefore, at this time, PBH does not have a new plan for this payment. “Once business activities are resumed,” he added.

Garbage collection

The city also reviewed taxes related to garbage collection from large waste generators, those that dispose of more than 200 liters per day. A survey conducted by the municipal administration indicates that 55% of these establishments will benefit from discounts of more than 50% in the amount spent annually with the public price of special collection.

Street work

Another announced measure aims to simplify and contribute to the regularity of establishments and work licenses in the streets with the extension of the validity periods of the licenses. Currently, they are valid for one year. Now, it will be five years.

“All these licenses were applied annually. Every year people had to pay these fees. This is over,” added María Caldas.
