The transmission rate of the coronavirus has been increasing in Belo Horizonte in recent days. This Wednesday the index reached its highest mark in the last 30 days, registering the average number of transmissions per infected person (RT) of 1.04, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin released by the city.
The previous day’s index was 1.01. In the recent period, rates have not reached this level for a month. On October 9 the RT was at 1.06. The municipal committee to combat Covid considers that, when exceeding the limit of 1, the population should be on alert. The guidelines for wearing a mask and social distancing remain valid.
Today the capital has also exceeded the sum of 50,000 cases of Covid-19. The exact number is 50,106 people who have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The death toll is 1,533 recorded deaths as a result of the virus.
Among the three items that serve as indicators to evaluate the performance of Covid in the city, another data that had an increase was the occupancy of the ICU, which went from 30.6% to 32.1%. In addition to RT, the occupation of nursing beds is the other index, but this increased slightly, from 28% to 28.4%. However, the number of occupied beds is within the range that is considered under control.
