Despite the decision of the president of the Superior Court of Justice, Humberto Martins, who suspended the elections this Saturday at the beginning of the night, the board of directors of Vasco’s election proceeded with the vote. Just before 2 am this Sunday, after searching and not finding a place to leave the sealed ballot boxes, the table decided to open them and count the votes. Candidate Leven Siano was the most voted in the count that ended at 4:20 am.
By decision of the president of the STJ, the vote count has no electoral effect on the club at the moment.

The decision of the president of the STJ suspended the face-to-face election this Saturday in São Januário. According to the president of the General Assembly of Vasco, Faues Jassus, Mussa, the decision also brought back the precautionary measure that marked the online elections of November 14, online.
After the vote counting, Leven Siano showed confidence in the annulment of the precautionary measure this Saturday and defended the exclusion of Mussa from the club’s membership.
– Without a doubt, we are going to revoke the precautionary measure, we are prepared to face any challenge in the Judicial Power, this is my day to day. About Mussa, I think he needs to be expelled from the club. His performance is not exempt, he is not impartial, and we can expel him from the club.

The STJ’s decision reached Vasco shortly after 8 p.m. this Saturday. Voting had started at 9:55 am and would continue until 10:00 pm. After the notification reached the club via email, the polls were closed. After much discussion, with Mussa already out of São Januário, the board of directors decided to proceed with the election and let the members who were in the queue vote.

At that time, three candidates withdrew from the election: Alexandre Campello, Jorge Salgado and Julio Brant. Only Leven Siano and Sérgio Frias remained. The two remained at the club until dawn, after the vote counting.
The board is made up of four people, who made the decision to proceed with the election and count the votes at dawn: the vice president of the club’s General Assembly, Alcides Martins, the president of the Deliberative Council, Roberto Monteiro, the president of the Board of Directors. Beneméritos, Silvio Godói and the vice president of the Deliberative Council, Sérgio Romay.
The members who went to the gym after the resumption, which took place at 9:15 p.m., voted for a separate ballot box, at 5. Another separate ballot box, this one from the beginning of the election, was 8, which received the votes of amnesties. They had been left off the list of eligible voters, but were included in a court order before the merits were judged. In total, 3,447 votes were received (of these, 113 were after the suspension and resumption of voting).

Shortly after 10 pm, the lights of São Januário went out. The thirst was in the dark. There were still people in the queue who couldn’t vote. Then there was a long discussion about what to do. Initially, the ballot boxes were sealed. The club, however, failed to get a security company to stay with them.
Vasco tried to make a decision on the duty of the Court to hold the court accountable for the ballot box. Without a response, the Board of Directors decided to initiate the investigation. It was already early morning, around 2 am.
