The first day of validity of the decree published by Belo Horizonte City Council (PBH) that tests the consumption of alcoholic beverages in bars, restaurants and the like left the establishments empty or closed on Monday (12/7). According to the inspection team, at least 300 people were on the site without complying with the measures to combat the coronavirus, such as respecting the distance and the use of masks and alcohol gel.
PBH’s inspection also detected an overcrowding on Sunday (12/6), the last day before the “dry law”. On that occasion, a space in Bairro Estoril, in the Western Region of the capital of Minas Gerais, was closed after complaints. A team from the Municipal Executive went to the place and found a large concentration of people. Photos taken by neighbors show that most of those present did not wear masks.

In addition to not being able to sell beverages for consumption on site, the owners of bars, restaurants, cafes and canteens cannot allow their customers to drink on the premises of the establishment, even if they have bought elsewhere.

The restriction also affects public and licensed fairs and food courts. The municipal administration also suspended the license of events, shows and gastronomic shows, including the requirements already presented and not yet attended by the city.
