Grupo Bandeirantes is close to closing an agreement to hire journalist Mariana Becker. The Formula 1 reporter was fired by TV Globo after the Rio de Janeiro radio station gave up the renewal of the broadcasting rights of the most important category of world motorsport.

All this movement is part of the new association of Liberty Media, owner of F1, with TV Bandeirantes. Former executive producer of the category on TV Globo and husband of Mariana Becker, Jayme Brito was in charge of mediating the conversations between Liberty and Band and putting together the Brazilian team in charge of broadcasting the races.

As the Gabriel Vaquer column reported, Brito resides in Monaco and helped Globo in the broadcast, mainly on the technical issue. He also mediated between television and Formula 1 owners for the renewal of contracts. In the middle of last year, the Rio de Janeiro broadcaster informed the executive that it no longer intended to rely on its services after 2020.

Brito later mediated the negotiation between Band and Liberty Media. The departure of Formula 1 to Band is taken for granted, but it has not yet been made official, as well as the hiring of Mariana. Despite this, the talks are well under way and the signing of a contract now depends only on bureaucratic red tape and definitions and approvals of values.

Mariana Becker is from Porto Alegre (RS) and is 49 years old. She was hired by Globo in 1994, where she always worked with sports journalism. In 1995, she was transferred to Rio. In 2008, she became the head of the report in Formula 1, replacing João Pedro Paes Leme.
