Atlético Nacional, of Colombia, published on Wednesday on its official website that it had a favorable decision by FIFA in the complaint against Palmeiras for the non-payment of 30% of the economic rights of striker Borja, in the amount of US $ 3 million (approximately R $ 16.2 million).

According to the Colombian team, Verdão now has 45 days to pay the debt. If the amount is not paid, it would be possible to prevent the people of Palma from registering new athletes for national and international disputes.

TO GloboEsporte.comPalmeiras said that said decision is not final and that the case is in preliminary stages. For the green club, which will resort to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), there is no risk of suffering any FIFA sanction at this stage of the process.

– We particularly appreciate the decision that FIFA has just sent. This is an important sum whose payment we expected since August last year and whose default generated significant losses in 2019, which we had to cover with the debt of the financial sector – said the president of the Colombian team, Juan David Pérez Ortiz.

Palmeiras bought 70% of Borja’s economic rights for US $ 10.5 million (around R $ 33 million at that time), in February 2017. In the bond, it was established that Verdão could buy the remaining part if the Colombian did not. It will be commercialized in August 2019.

The club recognized the obligation, but claimed to have a different interpretation of the contract, without a deadline to pay the amount: Borja is on loan to Junior Barranquilla until the end of this season.

Interested in Atlético Nacional’s right back, Daniel Muñoz, the Palmeiras board tried to resolve both negotiations at the same time.

Concerned about the financial situation of the club, Palmeiras paid Nacional, from Uruguay, only two thirds of the March fee for the purchase of Matías Viña. The last part would be paid in April, but Verdão asked the Uruguayan club to pay the amount only in the second half.
