The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) authorized the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) to import 2 million doses of vaccines against covid-19.
Although the application of the immunizer in the country is not yet authorized, Anvisa has released the import to anticipate availability when registration or emergency use is approved. Fiocruz is responsible for producing the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca in partnership with the University of Oxford. , in Brazil.
The vaccine with the approved import was the one produced in India by the Serum Institute of India. The company produces the AstraZeneca vaccine in India. There, emergency use has already been approved.
“The main requirement is that the imported vaccines remain under the specific custody of Fiocruz until Anvisa authorizes the use of the product in the country. For that, Fiocruz must guarantee storage and safety conditions to maintain quality, ”says the agency, in a note.
According to Anvisa, the indication is that the vaccines arrive in the country this month.
There are four vaccines with authorized research in the country and the agency already analyzes the previous data sent by the laboratories. But, according to Anvisa, there are still no requests for use or emergency registration in the country.
