Palmeiras finally took off! After a five-game draw streak at home, Libertadores’ 5-0 win over Bolívar brings a little more hope to the fans.
The team had two different times. Despite opening the scoring in the first minutes, Palmeiras came to risk in the initial stage and was saved by Weverton. Still, he managed to create.
The second half was a massacre: the intensity, the speed and the pressure made the team look for spaces, engage Bolívar’s defense and score one goal after another. It was 5-0, but it could have been more.

Palmeiras have been undefeated for 19 games. The number is expressive. The loss may not be exciting, but it shows that the team can perform better. And the players who were coming down, like Ron, Raphael Veiga and Viña, can gain confidence and grow.
In the first half, Palmeiras lived by playing speed with Ron and Wesley wide on the sides. That is how I managed to create the main opportunities and find spaces in the defense of Bolívar. The stretched balls worked, the first goal came out like this.
In the final stage, everything worked much better. Palmeiras was more intense, organized and, above all, brought the players closer. This, of course, made it easy to create plays and triangulations. Having an inspired sock, as was the case with Raphael Veiga, makes it much easier.
Another important factor in the change was the support of Matías Viña. Very shy in the first half, he was much more in the attack field afterwards. He gave an assist after stealing the ball through the center and then another in a great lateral play, in addition to the goal after a corner.
At that level it can be a great offensive alternative.

It’s hard to point out anything wrong with a 5-0 win, but Palmeiras had a first half that left a lot to be desired. The team was much more withdrawn after making it 1-0 and saw Bolívar in danger, especially in the last 20 minutes. It was an unnecessary setback at home, against such a weak opponent.
There were also some errors in decision making and slowness with the ball on the foot in the early stage. It was no worse than in several other games, but Palmeiras suffered more than necessary in the first 45 minutes.
This Wednesday’s match practically served as preparation for the duel with Ceará, on Saturday. Vanderlei Luxembourg took out the trio that is suspended in the Brasileirão (Zé Rafael, Gabriel Menino and Lucas Lima) and gave space to the team that must climb in the next duel.
Winning again at home will be central to Palmeiras’ aspirations in the national competition. Already classified in the Libertadores, the thought will be in the Brazilian Championship for a long time. Verdão is fourth, with 19 points.
