Even with the return of Lucas Veríssimo and Marinho, two of the team’s main players, Santos failed to prevail and was dominated by Cariocas most of the time.
The game featured controversy from the referees, who annulled two goals by Peixe and chose not to send Hudson off after a car loaned in Soteldo. Coach Cuca dismissed referee Anderson Daronco’s performance.
With the defeat, Santos lost the opportunity to enter the G-4 of Brasileirão and was overtaken by Fluminense himself in the table. There are 27 points earned in 18 rounds.

Very little, since it was one of the worst performances of Santos under the command of Cuca.
Marinho’s goal was a rare moment worthy of Santos’s praise. The play begins with a beautiful pass from Jobson (which improves offensive production, but still sins on defense) for Madson to cross for the attacker to come forward and score.

Despite the two goals disallowed, Santos did not play ball to score in Maracana. Cuca brought Lucas Verissimo and Marinho back to the starting lineup, but made significant changes to the team’s tactical scheme. Changes that didn’t work.
Peixe entered the field in the usual 4-3-3, but with a change in the positioning of the players. With three native defenders in the lineup, Luan Peres was in charge of playing on the left side, with Laércio and Lucas Veríssimo (on the side who is not used to playing) on defense. Felipe Jonatan, left back, started as a midfielder. Marinho played central, with Lucas Braga and Soteldo open.
From start to finish, however, Santos unbuttoned himself and had the lines completely spaced, as well as erring in playmaking. Peixe only had one midfielder on the field in the final minutes of the match. The team, in fact, finished the match with five professional attackers.
Another problem that reappeared was the fragility of the air. All three Fluminense goals came from centers. Cuca had corrected Santos’ instability in those plays, but the marking had no effect in Maracana.
The option for a centralized Marinho was taken to Santos. The main player of the team in the season, despite having scored the goal of Peixe, was little fired and was isolated in the attack. On one of the few occasions he had, he scored.
