The joy of Vasco in Mineirão lasted just over 10 minutes. On Sunday night, after taking the lead on a Benítez bike, Vasco made many mistakes, fell into the traps of the Brasileirão leader and was beaten 4-1, with a disastrous performance in the first half.
It was a Sunday of individual and collective errors, in the line-up and in the way of playing. But it was also a night of reality shock. Vasco was very bad, but he fell in love with the team that has been playing the best football in Brasileirão. Overwhelming, Galo choked, did not let Ramón’s team breathe and could have scored even more goals against a defense, which until then was one of the least filtered in the competition.

With the defeat, Vasco left the vanguard for the first time and fell to ninth position. Situation that links the alert, especially due to the fact that the team comes from a sequence of five games without winning (three for Brasileirão).

Benítez, Andrey and Ricardo started the game, but not even the return of three players gave Vasco the peace to make a safe game in Mineirão. The team entered the field with news, with Miranda playing as a right back and Carlinhos with Andrey in the middle of the field. The idea, according to Ramón, was to try to hold Keno and Atlético-MG’s left back. It didn’t work.
The beginning was misleading. Well positioned, the team opted for long pitches with Benítez and Andrey. In fact, with both of them on the field, it was the first time that Ramón lost. It was on a seemingly unpretentious side kick that Vasco took the lead with an Argentine goal behind Réver’s back. It was the only joy on Sunday.

It seemed like the ideal situation. Vasco would close and bet on counterattacks. Atlético-MG, however, responded quickly with goals from Arana and Savarino and did not even have time for the Rio team to implement their plan. Vasco, still trying to understand how he had suffered the lap so fast, got lost on the field and abused his mistakes. Carlinhos, on an extremely unhappy night, committed a child foul near the area and forced Ricardo to commit a penalty.
This, by the way, was one of Vasco’s big mistakes in the game. The team tried to play, but perhaps they did not imagine the intensity and the way Atlético-MG would play. The miners strangled the ball and scored two penalties that way. Marcos Junior, who replaced Carlinhos in the first half, made a practically identical mistake. In addition to this change, Ramón left Vinícius for Pikachu before the break.

Vasco, at halftime, tried at least to put his head in place. Marcos Junior, despite the grotesque failure in Atlético-MG’s fourth goal, managed to balance the midfield a bit, but the team lost its offensive strength with the departure of Vinícius, although the young man did not play well.
The team, however, maintained its style, insisted on playing and repeatedly lost balls in the defensive field against Atlético-MG. Andrey was sent off after getting the second yellow card for a foul on Alan Franco. With 10 on the field, Vasco limited himself to defending. The mining team had some chances, hit the post, but stopped in the final minutes.
Vasco, more than learning, has doubts. The team’s performance has declined in recent weeks and Ramón has struggled to find the ideal formation. Some important players at the start of the season are falling short, and even Cano, less and less equipped, is going through a difficult phase, there are five games without scoring.
It’s time to pick up the pieces, understand the mistakes, and find solutions. With a small and young cast, it is not an easy task for Ramón. But Vasco has already shown the strength to walk smoothly at the Brasileirão. However, he needs to find himself again. As soon as possible.
