Jorge Sampaoli’s Atlético-MG continues to expand large numbers in the Football. This Saturday, beat Grêmio, in Mineirão, 3 to 1 (see offers in the video above). It was the Gallo’s tenth consecutive victory at Gigante da Pampulha, the eighth win – out of 11 possible – in Serie A. The team is the isolated leader, with 24 points and 72.7% accuracy (100% at home). He has the best attack and one game less.
The numbers, for the moment, are unquestionable and place Atlético as a strong candidate for the title. Performance too. El Gallo has not won by chance. He has played the most consistent soccer in the country and is dominant in almost all of his games. When he lost, defeat sold dearly. When he won, he almost always convinced. Against Grêmio, again, he had more possession, more submissions and greater control of the game. Had Keno on another bright night.

The sports fan is, by characteristic, resentful. The elders saw Atlético as the undefeated runner-up of Brazil (1977), they witnessed teams with the performance of champions losing cups, they saw recent conquests (Libertadores, Recopa and Copa do Brasil) arrive with a gigantic dose of suffering.
The “it’s too good to be true” runs through the minds of most Alvinegros. It is natural that it happens. But the team sends a message: the athlete need not be ashamed of being happy and dreaming big.
There is a lot of championship ahead, it is clear that it is. Nothing is gained, there are strong competitors, in addition to a series of variables to manage. The title only comes (for Atlético or any other team) in round 38 – or shortly before, in case of an early conquest, mathematically. They say that happiness is not in the final destination, but on the road. If that’s the case, regardless of whether the cup goes to Belo Horizonte in early 2021, the athlete needs to enjoy the moment. Gallo is the leader.
