Amazon Prime Day starts this Tuesday; see the main offers

SAO PAULO – Amazon is promoting Prime Day 2020, its traditional discount event that occurs for the first time in Brazil, between this Tuesday (13) and Wednesday (14). There will be more than 15 thousand products with promotions for customers who are members of the Prime service, which arrived in the country in September last year.

Prime is a subscription, which competes with Netflix, GloboPlay, among others, that costs R $ 9.90 per month and offers free shipping and access to movies and series, music, books and games, among other benefits. Plus, customers rely on one-business-day deliveries for eligible products.

According to Alex Szapiro, president of Amazon in Brazil, Prime’s growth in its first year of Brazilian operation exceeds that registered in all other countries where Amazon offers the program. Globally, Amazon Prime has more than 150 million subscribers.

Prime Day, which actually lasts 48 hours, takes place in 19 countries this year. The event was introduced in 2015 to boost sales during the summer in the Northern Hemisphere and normally takes place in July, but this year it was postponed until October 13 due to the pandemic.

Prime member customers can take advantage of promotions anywhere with the Amazon app or on the retailer’s website.

As with any discount event, it is always important to check if the deals are really worth it. In BlackFriday, for example, the phrase that says that “products are sold for half twice the price” became famous, referring to items that had their high prices just before the event to appear later with promotional values.

Price comparison sites like Buscapé, Zoom, Bondfaro and JáCotei allow you to check the historical prices of different products to understand if the promotion is real or if it is just a marketing tactic.
