The São Paulo Legislative Assembly approved on Thursday (30) a project that reduces the salaries of state deputies and commissioned employees, reduces the costs of the Legislative Branch and promises to donate R $ 320 million to the state government to combat the coronavirus pandemic. (Covid-19) and other administrative emergency measures. There were 85 votes in favor, 1 against and 1 abstention. The measures are effective from this Friday (1st).
Under the approved proposal, parliamentarians’ wages will be cut by 30%.
The bill provides for a reduction of up to 20% in the salary and benefits of commissioned positions and a 40% cut in the funds of the deputies’ office.

Alesp’s president, Cauê Macris, determined a reduction of up to 40% in the contracts in execution in the House. All the actions total R $ 320 million that will be sent to the Government of São Paulo.
According to Macris, the cuts represent 25% of the Legislative Power Budget for 2020. “We cut the meat itself. We have a responsibility to the population of São Paulo and we have contributed to the fight against Covid-19, ”he said.
