MetSul Meteorologia warns that the risk of severe weather continues in Rio Grande do Sul. New storms should be expected between the end of this Sunday (27) and the beginning of Monday (28). The storms of the last hours were associated with the formation of areas of prefrontal instability in a superheated atmosphere in which the maximum reached 40ºC in the south of Brazil yesterday with absolute heat records in the Paraguay and in the north Argentina. The storms of the last hours have already brought gales with gusts close to and exceeding 100 km / h, as well as hail, with damage in some municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in addition to damage to Currents and Misiones na Argentina.

The most critical moment of instability will occur between tonight and early Monday, when a cold front now in the southwest of Rio Grande do Sul advances towards the North Half of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The weather opened up in many areas of the North Midwest after the morning storms and the heat returned on Sunday afternoon with marks above 30ºC in the Northwest. When encountering very hot air, with low atmospheric pressure and a low-level jet stream, new areas of instability will intensely form. There is a risk of forming a strong to strong wind storm line, with destructive potential only, in addition to hail.

The regions most at risk are the West Border from São Borja to Porto Mauá, the Center of Rio Grande do Sul, the Misiones, the Northwest, the Middle and Upper Uruguay, the valleys, Planalto Médio, the Greater Porto Alegre, the Serra, the Cima da Serra Fields and the North Coast. It does not mean that all the municipalities in these regions will have storms, after all the risk of severe phenomena is located, but all these areas are still at risk of storms today and at the beginning of the second.

MetSul Meteorologia also warns of the risk of electrical storms in Santa Catarina and Paraná at the end of this Sunday and Monday.
