Terrorist Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, known as Abu Muhammad al-Masri, was secretly killed in Iran, The New York Times reported on Friday. He was considered the number 2 of the Al-Qaeda faction and died on the streets of Tehran three months ago, US intelligence sources said.
Also according to these sources, al-Masri was assassinated by men linked to Israel and with the support of the United States, infiltrating Iran. His daughter, Miriam, the widow of one of Osama bin Laden’s sons, was also killed in the operation.
So far, al-Qaeda, Iran, the United States and Israel have not publicly acknowledged the information about the death.
Al-Masri is accused of having planned the deadly attacks on US embassies in Africa in 1998. He was on the FBI’s wanted list. As of Friday, his profile was still on the website of the US agency, which offers a $ 10 million reward for information that may lead to his capture.
According to the NY Times, US intelligence officials say al-Masri has been in “custody” of Iran, an al-Qaeda enemy country, since 2003, but has lived freely in Tehran’s Pasdaran district, a noble suburb, since at least 2015.
He and his daughter were reportedly killed by men on a motorcycle and they approached the car in which they were both and shot in broad daylight.
