With the LP “Surge um Astro”, he hit the hit “Mamãe” (version of “La Mamma”, by Charles Aznavour) and began to participate in the program “Jovem Guarda”. The beginning of his career focused on covers of international hits.

With the album “Obrigado Querida”, released in 1967, he reached first place in the country’s record companies and his first great success was “Meu grito”, a song by Roberto Carlos.

From then on, he consolidated his position as a romantic singer and released other hits such as “Ave-Maria”, “Verdes campos” and “A Galeria do Amor”. Agnaldo Timóteo recorded more than 50 albums, alternating between the romantic and the struggle.

In 2005 he became a councilor in São Paulo for the Progressive Party and was reelected in 2008.
