CSA won Cruzeiro 3-1 tonight (19) for the 10th round of Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. The victory gave the Alagoas team a break and further complicated Cruzeiro’s situation in the tournament. Cleberson, Alan Costa and Pedro Lucas scored for him CSA and Matheus Pereira declined for Cruzeiro.
The victory comes two days after the removal of Argel Fuchs, who spent just over two weeks at the helm of the CSA. For today’s game, the team had interim Adriano Rodrigues, but Mozart, a former Coritiba assistant, has already been confirmed as a new coach.
With the victory, Maceió’s team put down the lantern and now occupy 18th place with seven points. Cruzeiro remains close to the Z4. The Minas Gerais team is in 15th place, with eight points, the same score as Botafogo-SP and Guarani, which opens the relegation zone for Serie C.
Pedro Lucas sent well
In his CSA debut, striker Pedro Lucas scored the third CSA goal with just 11 minutes on the pitch. Before that, he had already received a yellow card for a foul, but managed to redeem himself with a well-targeted header that extended Alagoas’s lead in the game. The forward, who had left Figueirense, still had a ball in the post a few minutes later.
Rodrigo Pimpão was bad
The CSA forward was sent off midway through the second half. He had received a yellow card in the first half and then Matheus Pereira missed, resulting in his warning. Despite the fouls, he participated in the play that led to CSA’s first goal.
First win since August
The week had been difficult for the CSA. The team was coming off a seven-game winless streak and sacked manager Algiers Fuchs after just 18 days on the job. With Adriano Rodrigues acting as interim, the team reacted. The defense, which came from 14 goals conceded in this sequence, besides not suffering any today, was also responsible for the victory of the Alagoas team with goals from Cleberson and Alan Costa.
Ney Franco bets on early changes
In his second game ahead of Cruzeiro, Ney Franco began to move the team in the first half. With 30 minutes to go and with the score 2-0 for CSA, coach Jadsom Silva took the wheel to overtake striker Thiago. Then, he brought forward Arthur Caíke to Daniel Guedes.
“Speak up, Zezé! Good morning man!”
CSA and Cruzeiro met again 296 days after the Alagoas team’s 1-0 victory in Mineirão, in the final stretch of last year’s Brasileirão. After the game, Abel Braga was fired and Thiago Neves was excluded from the call.
It was also after this game that the audio was leaked, in which Thiago Neves himself asked the vice president of football Zezé Perrella to return the salaries as “extra motivation” for the direct confrontation against relegation.
Game timeline
CSA took the lead thanks to the performance of its two defenders. At 11 minutes, Diego Renan took a corner, Rodrigo Pimpão deflected and Cleberson went up alone to head and open the scoring. Then, at 28, Alan Costa, also upside down, expanded.
In the second half, at 21 minutes, Matheus Pereira received from Robersom, invaded the area and sent goalkeeper Matheus Mendes into the back of the net. Before long, the CSA again had two goals ahead. At 28, Pedro Lucas scored the third for Alagoas.
