After exchanging accusations throughout the day with the Ministry of Health, the government of São Paulo once again hardened the discourse and charged the federal portfolio with the amount of R $ 1 billion for ICU beds (Intensive Care Unit), during the confrontation with covid-19. pandemic.
The response of the management of João Doria (PSDB) comes after the Ministry of Health declared that Doria “lies” when saying that the federal government has disabled 3,258 ICU beds that were destined for patients with the disease in the state, under the direction of the Union.
“The Ministry [da Saúde] He even indicated to the state of SP that it would enable a list of 2 thousand ICU beds with a financing structure for 12 months. This amount would be included in a total of five thousand beds throughout the country for the federal government to use a balance of R $ 5 billion in SUS [Sistema Único de Saúde] of Brazil, “said the Doria government, in a note sent to Twitter.
“The state of São Paulo did it: it identified the beds, Bipartite agreed, presented this claim and must receive an amount greater than R $ 1 billion for that. But the federal government did not fulfill this commitment neither with São Paulo nor with any other state of Brazil, ”he continued.
The toucan management also accused the Health Ministry of “dishonoring its own commitment” by citing in a statement the value of an outdated ICU.
“The Ministry disgraces its own commitment by citing, in a note, the cost of an ICU bed in the amount of the daily pre-pandemic, of R $ 800.00, a value that has expired for years and is considered insufficient by the Ministry itself, since the federal government doubled that daily rate during the pandemic, ”he said.
Salud says that Doria “lies”
In a note sent to the press this afternoon, the ministry refuted the governor’s statements informing that he disabled the ICU beds only after the completion of a decree that recognizes the state of public calamity, effective until December 31, 2020 .
“On the occasion of the end of the State of Public Calamity, according to Legislative Decree No. 6, of March 20, 2020, which recognized the occurrence of the State of Public Calamity, effective until December 31, 2020, extraordinary credit resources destined by the Federal Government to combat the pandemic were destined to states and municipalities and applied by the Ministry of Health until December 31, 2020 ”, says the folder.
The Health Ministry also says that additional amounts were transferred to the state of São Paulo in late December and January. The portfolio mentions, for example, the amount of “R $ 126.6 million, of which 22.35% were for ICU beds, resulting in the State Contingency Plan”. “This amount would be enough for the State of São Paulo to maintain 580 beds for 30 days,” he emphasized.
The government concludes the note saying that, “in this way, the governor of the state of São Paulo lies or is totally unaware.”
Dispute between Doria x Bolsonaro
Doria and Jair Bolsonaro, likely contenders in the 2022 elections, constantly argue about measures to combat the pandemic and the covid-19 vaccine. Both provoke and complain about the politicization of the issue.
In a new chapter, the toucan previously stated that the decision to disable beds in São Paulo is “political.”
“The Ministry of Health breaks the federative pact by imposing a disqualification of beds in São Paulo and clearly establishes a political bias to face a health crisis like this one. We have information that in other states the political bias is being applied to other governments. It’s very serious. This is to advance within an ideological policy on the health issue, rather than what is wrong in the ministry, ”he explained.
Toucan management had already complained about the decrease in beds managed by the federal government. THE Twitter He found that deals with the ministry have been made since December last year and the state has been paying for the operation of these beds.
Today, Doria promised to appeal to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) if the situation is not resolved.
