The mayor of Criciúma, in southern Santa Catarina, Clésio Salvaro (PSDB), spoke about the attack on a bank in the early hours of Tuesday (1). In an interview with Globonews, claimed that the group that broke into an agency in the city fled by train after intense shootings.
“They left the city by train. I don’t know if there are eight or ten vehicles heading south of the state, ”said the mayor.
According to Salvaro, police reinforcements from other cities were called to search for the assailants. In action, a military policeman was shot. A guard who was working at the time of the robbery was also injured.
Now that they are gone, the entire Santa Catarina state police are mobilizing. All the intelligence of the Military Police and the Civil Police, everyone is mobilized to capture these outcasts who brought this fear, this terror to our city, from a people that really knows how to work. Now, we all panic. A surreal scene, ”he said.

The Military Police reported that the group even set fire to a tunnel in the city of Tubarão, which gives access to Criciúma, in an attempt to prevent reinforcements from reaching the scene of the assaults. They too attacked a PM battalion and set fire to a vehicle.
We live an experience that certainly will not come out of the heads of the people of Cricium, so unfortunately in a very negative way ”, said Salvaro.
According to the mayor, at 2:30 am, all accesses had been released. “Our protocol is not to exchange shots with the marginalized, but to protect the population. So the police acted very correctly, putting people’s lives first, ”he said.
After the attack, the suspects left at least one bag of money at the scene. It is not yet possible to indicate the amount of money that the criminals took. Experts came to the scene to analyze alleged explosive materials.
“The information we have is that it was a very well planned attack, very well rehearsed, well thought out,” he explained.
