A woman was kidnapped, with a knife to her neck, inside the Adolfo Pinheiro subway station in São Paulo, between 4 pm and 6:15 pm. La Puerta (Special Tactical Actions Group) activated and dealt with the incident on the spot. There were no injuries.
After two hours, the kidnapper was immobilized by the police and the victim was released, according to Major Racorti, deputy commander of ROTA (Rondas Ostensivas Tobías de Aguiar), to Urgente Brasil. The two did not know each other until the moment of the crime. According to Racorti, the man had schizophrenia and had not taken his medication.
According to Lieutenant Maxwel of the Military Police, the owner of the knife had no specific requests for the police, which “hindered the negotiation.”
Line 5-Lilac, which includes the case station, is in normal operation, with the exception of Adolfo Pinheiro, according to Metrô de São Paulo on Twitter.
During the kidnapping, a subway employee hid inside the station’s bathroom, collapsing with nervousness, according to Racorti. However, she is fine.
