The businessman Abilio Diniz, a partner of the French group Carrefour, described the murder of João Alberto Silveira Freitas, 40, in a unit of the hypermarket chain in Porto Alegre as a tragedy. The black man was beaten to death.

The Carrefour Brasil group announced that it will break the contract with the company responsible for security, in addition to firing the employee responsible for the store at the time of the incident.
