Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira told a press conference after the victory over Atlético-PR that the result should be dedicated entirely to midfielder Ramires, whose contract was terminated this week. The exit was made by agreement between the club and the player, who alleged personal problems and uncomfortable with the criticism he had been receiving.
– This victory is totally for Ramires’ man. There is a drug in the world today, which is social media. We judge people without knowing it. Ramires is a fantastic human being […] He played two more games here because I asked him to help us, but [sair] it was a decision already made between him and the club. He has an extraordinary career, he played for the best clubs in Europe and for the national team. He spent less time here, but what he did, what he accepted, is a man’s agreement. So this victory is totally for the Ramires man. I played against him, I always admired him as a player. And here I began to admire as a man.
After the match against Delfín, for the Copa Libertadores, in the middle of the week, the coach even said that Ramires was “an ugly duckling that will turn into a swan.” But the player terminated his contract with the club before he even had a chance to return to the pitch.

With the victory over Atlético-PR, Palmeiras reached 37 points and reached the fourth victory in the last five games for the Brazilian Championship. For coach Abel Ferreira, the evolution of the team is due first to the work of the players and only later to the impact of the arrival of a new technical commission.
– They are the ones who play, run, press and score goals. My job is to indicate a path, but they are the ones who follow it. The ones who make me a good coach are the players. I came to Palmeiras here because players from other clubs made me a good coach. And them [atletas do Palmeiras] have an open mind, work with passion and joy – he said.
During the press conference, Abel Ferreira was asked to speak about specific players, such as Patrick de Paula and Rony. He even praised the two little, but always preferred to exalt the collective work.
– No one is above the team. Everyone here understood since the owner is the idea of the game, that the owner is the club, the interests of the club. They have understood. I demand the best of them and, when they have the best, we will be closer to winning. As long as they do, I will defend them to the death.
