With a repeat of 77 on television, the Corinthians fan who was in Morumbi remembers the title: ‘Divider of the waters’

Many fans of the club will have the opportunity to see the images for the first time, while others will relive the great moments that happened that day. One of them is David Najar, a 60-year-old Corinthian fan, who was in Morumbi and for the first time was able to accompany his team to raise a glass.

– The 1977 Paulista Championship is the biggest title in the history of the Corinthians, bigger than the World Cup, because it was to get out of it, that it didn’t win anything. It was actually my first title, the first one I saw, and from there the sprint began. It was the basin. From my point of view and that of many Corinthians fans, it is a milestone: he stated in an interview with LANCE!

In the conversation with the report, David spoke a little about the feelings that this decision brought to the supporter of Timão, who almost 23 years ago did not know what it was to shout “he is a champion.” More than two decades suffering jokes from rivals and failures in the collection, as in the final of the 1974 Paulista Championship, when he was defeated by Palmeiras, 1-0.

– A feeling that we cannot even describe, I was a child, I was 17 years old, I grew up in a family with my brothers and my father from Corinthians and in my mother’s family, the vast majority were from the city of Palmeira and they called us victims since we were little. The feeling was very different, it was strange. In 1974, I was 14 years old and I went to see the final against Palmeiras, in Morumbi, and we even resigned ourselves, it was a great heartbreak that year, but in 1977 the atmosphere of the city of São Paulo, the feeling of the Corinthians, in the Across Brazil, the impression was that everyone was supporting Corinthians to be champion, he recalled. – I left the house with my friends in the late afternoon to go to Morumbi, I had blue Fiat 147 panties and the stadium was very far away, because we lived in the Belém neighborhood. He was with friends, even a palmeirense, he was on a motorcycle, along with another palmeirense, with the flag of the Corinthians.

For David, the goal of the title that Basílio had marked was the most perfect result, for everything that the 8 shirt represents for the club, in addition to being a player of extreme charisma. – Basilio immortalized, he was always a great person, a good player, humble, Basilio who today is the same as always, charisma, friendly and made history. – My younger brother was 9 years old at the time and my mother did not let him go, he stayed at home. My other brother went to the game, my father went to the game, each with his class. We went out to celebrate in the city, then we went home and where is my brother? A truck passed with fans, that disaster, got in the bucket and went to Praça Silvio Romero, it was two or three in the morning, then a friend and I went out to look for him and we only went to look for him in the plaza – he concluded.
