About ten merchants were warned this Friday morning (24) by men from the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) because they had open the doors of their stores in region 44. The articulation manager of the Municipal Office of Integrated Management (GGIM) José Pires says some merchants claimed they had checked the state government’s website and that there was permission to reopen. “But that information is unfounded. Whoever opens the store there is not complying with the decree and we will follow up to prevent this from happening, ”he said.

The manager pointed out that this weekend there should be a greater intensity in the calculation. “We do not believe that the new owners risk opening, but we will be in the region guiding and, if necessary, requesting the closure,” he explains. As reported by Pires, some merchants reported that they were on site only to pick up products that would be shipped to customers on a delivery or courier basis. “This practice is allowed, but should not be done with the doors fully open, as if the store could serve,” he says.

The GGIM manager also said that several street vendors were in the region on Friday morning. “Even the street vendor will not be able to stay there. If necessary, we can intensify the presence. The rule is to avoid crowding to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. “

The state government decree did not authorize the reopening of shopping centers and galleries, but there is a dialogue between the association of tenants in Region 44 and the Goiânia City Council. The tenant representative has been trying to authorize the stores to operate, through compliance with a security measures plan. While many merchants are pushing for the reopening, some fear that a lack of buyers from other cities and states, as envisioned in the plan, will make it impossible for a minimum number of sales to cover costs.
