The VW Nivus will perform live on April 29 at 10:00 a.m. The event will be the digital launch of the new VW Play multimedia, which will be one of the attractions of the national crossover coupe. It will soon hit the national market in late June, at the same time as the launch of the new Fiat Strada is scheduled.
The presentation by Pablo Di Si, VW’s president for South America, partially revealed some internal details of the Nivus, still camouflaged (see how it will actually be). One of them is Volkswagen’s new standard steering wheel, which adopts touch buttons with a more modern design.
In addition, the Nivus panel is very similar to that of the Polo, including the central air diffusers located below and with a similar design. The Active Display Display set (shown in the image) with its 10.25-inch screen, in a glossy black set with the new VW Play multimedia.
Say yes, turn on the device which starts with a very nice graphical presentation. The 8-inch screen is touch sensitive. As far as we know so far, the platform should have internet connection via 4G and Wi-Fi, in addition to online services and e-commerce, through VW partners.
The VW Nivus will arrive as a young alternative to the T-Cross, which has a more familiar footprint. At 4.26m long, 1.75m wide and 2.56m wheelbase, the coupe-style crossover has 415 liters in the trunk.
Sharing the platform with the Polo, the Nivus will be manufactured in Anchieta and will operate in a price range close to the compact SUV. Very expressive in its lines and, in general, the new VW resembles the classic Passat GTS Pointer.
In addition to the look and the VW Play, the Nivus will also bring adaptive cruise control with collision alert and automatic emergency braking. It will also have headlights and LED flashlights.
In mechanics, the VW Nivus will come with the well-known 1.0 TSI with 116 horsepower on gasoline and 128 on ethanol, in addition to the good 20.4 kgfm. The transmission will be the six-speed Tiptronic.
