Resende’s right back Anderson Mello is one of several athletes whose contract expires in April, and he does not know if he will return to the club, or even play in the Carioca Championship. At the moment, her main concern is to use the little financial reserve she has for soccer to pay her daughter’s pension, who lives in Salvador (BA).

Born in Maceió, the 26-year-old returned to his hometown, where he maintains his physical condition, and there he also requested emergency aid from the Federal Government, in the amount of R $ 600. Other measures were needed to help with the expenses.

– Government aid has not yet come out. I asked to pause the contract for my house, my car. Two months went by without paying. But there is no way to give a pension. And if you don’t pay justice that you don’t want to know, it’s prison. That is my concern, ”said Anderson.

The quarantine of a small club player is closer to the difficulty of most Brazilians than that of the great athletes of the Serie A teams in the country. Still without a response on the aid, player Resende received R $ 1500 from the club this week, after one of the sponsors paid the agreed fee. The full salary is still overdue.

The reality is similar to that of the players of other small clubs in Rio. Carlos Alberto, defender of America, 26, depends on the club with which he has a formal contract. Since the salary is due, the way was to get a tip working in a barber shop in Parada Angélia, where he lives in Rio.

– From there I brought my family’s food. I was unable to obtain government assistance because I have a formal contract. You have to drive somehow. I cut my hair – reports the young defender, who has a contract until 26.

In the fight to save themselves from relegation, America is one of the most affected clubs. He received payments from his sponsors and the club investor was suspended. The lowest investment teams estimate more than 300 unemployed among athletes and commissions.

The situation caused Anderson to evaluate whether it is worth resorting to an agreement from a real estate consortium that he hired when playing in Portugal. There, he was also unpaid and suspended payments on the property. It was expected to receive R $ 13 thousand in 2026, but in the last days a proposal for an immediate payment of R $ 5500 has arrived, and the player is considering.

– Now it’s squeezing, worry has hit.

In this scenario, even without a contract, Anderson conducts daily weight training and uses the beach near his home for racing. On the block from the neighborhood where he lives, he takes training material while watching the youth of the city play footvolley, without worrying too much about the isolation.

– Difficult to train alone, it is not the same to train at home. I do my strength work, so as not to lose my physical condition. And I have the beach in front of the house, it is quieter.

In a grassy field in Piabetá, Carlos Alberto trains with two friends every day, without the proper structure of the club, which could not give material to the athletes of America.

– We do not have ideal material as in the club, but we manage it as we can. I train with two friends, I avoid a lot of contact. We depend on our body and we cannot stop, informs the defender, who hopes to stay in the club when everything returns to normal.

Meanwhile, Anderson has called on friends who are running his career to put his name on the market, and heard that the time is for retraction.

– I don’t have a manager. I did the preparation of my DVD, to start working my name in other clubs. Except no one is being incisive on transactions right now.
