Brazilian players and the coaching staff in Saudi Arabia amid the pandemic of the new coronavirus will be able to return to Brazil after a month of stagnation. A group of about 180 people, including professionals and others outside the world of sports, should board a chartered plane next week, after a lengthy process that was assisted by the Brazilian embassy in the Arab country.

With the support of Ambassador Marcelo Della Nina, Minister Counselor Rubem Guimarães Amaral and a team, the Brazilian soccer community residing in the country managed to close a flight back to Brazil. The shipping date has yet to be confirmed, but there is optimism that it will take place on Tuesday. Everything will depend on the liberation by the Saudi government.

To get to Brazil, the flight must pass through four cities in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Najran) and Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, where it will refuel. From there, the flight heads to Guarulhos International Airport.

With the borders of Arabia closed and without the possibility of returning by traditional means, there was a mobilization for the union of athletes and coaches who are in Arabia. The process for everyone to return in a single flight was led by former Corinthians coach Fabio Carille, who heads Al Ittihad, and coaches André Gaspar, of Al Hazm Rass, and Luiz Antônio Zaluar, of Al Akhdoud (Division 2) , in addition to athletes.

– It was an intense work of more than 30 days for everyone involved there. I am grateful to everyone involved in solving this problem. The ambassador, the minister and his entire team, in addition to the Brazilians in the soccer community here, were very important. There was a very nice union to see here, so that everyone could come home. And we will return, that is the most important thing – commented Fabio Carille.

In the last week, a group of about 30 Brazilians managed to embark for Brazil on a flight by a German company that left Riyadh for Frankfurt. The athletes paid for the trip out of their own pocket, which was intended to bring back the Germans who were in Saudi Arabia.
