Margareth Dalholm, a researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), said that April will be a sad month for Brazil due to Covid-19. In an interview with GloboNews last Wednesday (31), the pulmonologist said that society must be aware that the vaccine is a solution, but not a miracle.

Previously, the doctor had already said that March would also be a month very affected by the coronavirus. The month ended with a death toll that doubled that registered in the worst month of 2020, with 66,000 deaths.

“The vaccine is spectacular, it is a solution, but the vaccine is not a miracle. The vaccine alone will not solve it. People have to get vaccinated and stay home. We asked and I will ask again, there can be no Easter, there can be no parties, there can be no crowds, there can be no family ceremonies, there can be no birthday party, there can be nothing, ”Dalholm said.

The pulmonologist also claimed that this should also have been Christmas and Carnival. “But, unfortunately, it seems that what we are saying is not understood by all and it makes us very sad, because we are going to continue working every day. It saddens us to admit young people as we do today ”, he explained.

Margareth concluded the interview by noting that the disease has changed and that new variants of Covid-19 make much younger people sick.
