Brazil set a new record for deaths from covid-19 this Tuesday (3/30), with 3,780 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the highest number seen in the entire pandemic, reaching 317,646 victims lost from the disease. 84.5 thousand new cases were also registered, reaching the accumulated 12.6 million infected.
The country has seen an increase in the number of deaths and cases of the disease since the end of February, in epidemiological week 8 (February 21-27), after the end of the year. The number of daily deaths exceeds 3,000, a mark reached for the first time on March 23. The last epidemiological week (from March 21 to last Saturday) ended with 17,798 deaths, the most lethal during the entire pandemic.
São Paulo also broke the daily record for deaths from the disease, with 1,209 records. The state has the highest number of deaths and COVID-19 cases, with a cumulative figure of 73,500 and 2.4 million, respectively.
