In one of the last speeches at the head of the portfolio, he defended strict measures to prevent covid-19, including the restriction of social contact. “Today it is clear that it was the best decision the government could have made,” he continued. “People do not understand what is the decision-making in July about something they will have at hand to fight the pandemic and save lives. It is difficult to convey this idea,” he said.
In one of his last speeches before publication, he said that buying the vaccines required “a lot of work, a lot of studies and a lot of nights of reflection.”
