Cardiologist Ludhmila Hajjar said, in a statement to the newspaper O Globo, that she has been walking with armored car and security since she received threats in recent days amid the possibility of assuming the position of Minister of Health in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (without a party).
Ludhmila rejected the invitation to the position, which will be assumed by fellow cardiologist Marcelo Queiroga. But the repercussion in relation to his name made the doctor take precautionary measures to increase his safety.
“I already have an armored vehicle and security since early today,” Ludhmila said yesterday in a statement to columnist Bela Megale of O Globo. He said he took steps to protect the family.
Yesterday, in interviews with CNN and Globo News, Ludhmila said that he was the subject of death threats. In addition, the doctor said that there was an attempted invasion of the hotel where he was staying in Brasilia.
Ludhmila was invited to speak with Jair Bolsonaro over the weekend, but declined, citing technical differences.
During the period in which she was summoned to take office, government supporters rescued statements from the doctor contrary to the policy of facing the pandemic led by Bolsonaro. The attacks, in the opinion of Ludhmila Hajjar, are the result of “radical” groups that “defend the discourse of polarization.”
The hotel does not identify the attempted invasion
In a note released this morning, Hotel B, where Ludmilla was staying in Brasilia, said it did not identify the attempts to break into the room reported by Ludhmila.

In a live interview for CNN Brazil, the cardiologist claimed to have been the victim of several death threats via WhatsApp and reported two attempts to break into her room at night. The Hotel informs that during Ludhmila’s entire stay at the hotel, between March 14 and 15, 2021, no events were reported at the company’s facilities and no complaints were sent to the administration, especially from the victim.
In addition to the above, B Hotel also clarifies that after learning of the allegations made by Ludhmila, it immediately consulted the internal circuit of cameras and found no “abnormality” in the vicinity of the suite or in any other area of the company. The employees and collaborators of Hotel B were also listened to and no similar event was found.
