The 37 million doses of the Russian vaccine against covid-19 Sputnik V negotiated by the governors of the Northeast will be distributed throughout the country by the Ministry of Health, the governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias (PT) reported today.
Governors of Northeastern states met virtually this morning with the Minister of Health, General Eduardo Pazuello, so that the doses of Sputnik V become part of the PNI (National Immunization Program).
The region’s consortium of governors is negotiating the acquisition of the doses with the Russian Fund for Direct Investment, and now the ministry must sign the agreement as an intermediary. The contract is expected to close next week.
Thus, Wellington Dias reported, all these doses must be distributed by the ministry to all of Brazil to reinforce the vaccination of the population against the coronavirus. The expectation is that the first batch of Sputnik V will arrive in Guarulhos, in São Paulo, in April.
