Manchester United ended City’s 21-game winning streak and 28 unbeaten matches. With a goal from Bruno Fernandes, from the penalty spot, in the second minute of the game, and another by Luke Shaw, in the second half, coach Solskjaer’s team managed to win 2-0 and get closer to the leader of the Championship of English.
City’s lead up front dropped to 11 points. Manchester City now has 65 points against Manchester United’s 54 points.
City host Southampton on Wednesday (10), in an English Premier League match. United, meanwhile, host West Ham on Sunday (14), but will face Milan in the Europa League on Thursday (11).
United’s first goal came after a penalty from Brazilian Gabriel Jesús. Martial entered the area at high speed from the left and was hit by Gabriel Jesús. In time, Bruno Fernandes sent a low shot into the right corner of Ederson, which even touched the ball, but could not avoid the goal.

City tried to go down to Mahrez in the 14th minute. De Bruyne hit a wide corner kick from the left and Mahrez took the extra first, but sent it out of goal. Later, Gabriel Jesús received from Mahrez on the far right and crossed, but no one completed the Brazilian’s cross.
The best opportunity, however, was United. The ball was free for Martial inside the area and he finished, but Ederson saved.
After a cross from Walker, Sterling appeared free inside the area to try to stop, but the Englishman missed the ball and missed a good opportunity. At 42, Gundogan headed wide and Stones couldn’t get there in time to complete the goal.
