According to a survey by the media consortium, Brazil recorded 1,726 deaths from Covid-19 on Tuesday, a record since the start of the pandemic. With that, the country reached a total of 257,562 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The moving average of deaths in Brazil in the last 7 days until Tuesday reached 1,274, 23% increase compared to the average of 14 days ago, indicating an upward trend in deaths from the disease.
Deaths due to covid and occupation of ICU beds break record in the State of São Paulo
In recent days, states have announced new restrictive measures to try to contain the spread of the disease and the risk of collapse of the health system. In most of them, the occupation of ICU beds by critically ill patients in Covid-19 is close to 100%.
Also on Wednesday, the São Paulo government announced that it will roll back the entire state to the red phase, the most restrictive of the quarantine.
The measure takes effect in the first hour of next Saturday (6) and must remain until March 19. The announcement was made by Governor João Doria (PSDB).

The states and municipalities had complained about the suspension of the transfer of funds from the federal government to finance ICU beds.
