The declaration comes at a time when governors and mayors are taking stricter measures to contain the advance of Covid-19 in various parts of the country. The visit to Ceará also takes place amid an increase in coronavirus cases in the state and, for this reason, was criticized by Governor Camilo Santana (PT), who reported that he would not participate in the event. President participated in the signing of the resumption of road works in Tianguá, in the north of Ceará, and visited the doubling of BR-222 in Caucaia this Friday.

In both moments of the visit, there was an agglomeration of supporters and people without masks. Bolsonaro spoke to a crowd in Tianguá’s main square. Fences surrounding the place were removed just before the ceremony, and the public ran to the tent where the service order for the urban crossing work, on BR-222, of the municipality was signed.

During the event attended by Bolsonaro, the service orders for the following works were signed:

• Two BR-222 curve correction works in the city of Umirim, work stopped for 5 years. Value: R $ 16.7 million
• Urban crossing on the BR-222 section in the city of Tianguá, stopped for 10 years. Value: R $ 66,123,320.74
