The São Paulo government should announce measures to tighten the quarantine throughout the state on Wednesday (24). The expectation is that traffic restrictions will be determined overnight throughout the state, which will be effective as of this Friday (26).
The changes come after the state registers, according to data from the state administration, a greater number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in UT since the beginning of the pandemic.
“What we are studying at the moment is exactly this model of traffic restriction, mainly at night. The whole world is working in this direction. We have seen countries like Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain, and even in the Brazilian states now, Ceará “. , Amapá, Bahía and Rio Grande do Sul ”, said the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Patrícia Elllen, in an interview with Bom Dia SP this Wednesday (24).
The secretary argues that the restriction of circulation after 10 p.m. prevents crowds in bars, restaurants and clandestine events, and that it would already have an impact on reducing the pollution rate.
The restricted circulation also sends a clear message to the population that it is time to stay home. ”
Also according to Patrícia Ellen, the changes should not affect the functioning of the schools.
“We are defending the resumption of classes, the protocols are adequate. (…) We are really at that moment of inflection, of learning to resume classes at the same time that we have to control the pandemic,” he said.
In the evaluation of the government health committee, the current increase in the number of ICU patients is related to a longer hospital stay for patients, which may suggest a greater severity of the disease among those contaminated in the state.
“The contingency center presented the governor with some extraordinary recommendations, in addition to the provisions of the São Paulo Plan. The government is analyzing these recommendations, and these measures will be announced on Wednesday, so they will take effect on Friday.” said last Monday the executive coordinator of the government’s health committee, João Gabbardo (22).
What The restrictions will be complementary to those provided by São Paulo Traffic News, which divides the state into subregions and determines different restrictions according to the quarantine phase in which each area is located.
Currently, according to the last update made on Friday (19), only four regions of the state (Araraquara, Bauru, Barretos, Presidente Prudente) are in the red phase, in which only essential services are allowed to operate.
Greater São Paulo, which includes the capital, is in the yellow phase, where restaurants and shops can operate until 10 pm.
Register ICU patients
On Monday (22), the Secretary of State for Health, Jean Gorinchteyn, said in an interview with journalists, that the total number of patients admitted to the ICU currently registered is the highest since the beginning of the pandemic.
However, on July 5, the state government itself released a greater number of 6,416 people in ICUs in the state, in official press releases.
Questioned by G1, the press office of the Ministry of Health said on Monday (22) that the data presented daily to the press since the beginning of the pandemic “are preliminary, extracted from the COVID-19 Census on the day and time indicated in the paragraph of statement “.
According to the folder, the data cited by the secretary in the press conference this Monday are “consolidated from the respective dates, after debugging and analyzing technicians with the consolidated information for each day.” He said he will Begin to standardize the information disseminated as of this Tuesday (23).
