Governor Rui Costa announced on Tuesday (16) a more drastic measure to contain the progress of the coronavirus pandemic in Bahia. For that, he decreed a curfew throughout the state, from 10 at night to 5 in the morning, for seven days, with the possibility of an extension.

The measure begins to take effect on Friday (19) and includes all the municipalities of Bahia, with the exception of the West, Irecê, Jacobina and Alagoinhas regions, where rates are not high. The decision was made after the governor’s meeting with the mayors this afternoon, where the curfew was defined.

“The objective is to avoid coexistence in bars, drinks, cars, in short, those crowds at dawn, because in general they are associated with alcoholic beverages and, therefore, carelessness in coexistence relationships. With this, we hope to preserve human lives and guarantee hospital beds for those in need. I call on all mayors to help us in this mobilization, ”said the governor.
