Bolsonaro until last week was against the return of emergency aid. Several times he said that the “profit was not forever.” On another occasion, he made it clear that it would not be possible to return with the aid.
“We do not argue that we are going to continue paying emergency aid,” said the president in an interview with journalist José Luiz Datena, on TV Band. However, this Monday (8), also for Datena, in an exclusive conversation, on TV Band, President Jair Bolsonaro said that he is negotiating the return of emergency aid, confirming that the benefit will have an extension, however, he did not report . values and or date of return of the aid.
“We are negotiating with Onyx Lorenzoni, Paulo Guedes, (Rogério) Marinho, among others, the issue of aid to our people who are still in a very complicated situation,” said Bolsonaro.
“Paulo Guedes has said, if the pandemic continues and the economy does not start, we will discuss the extension of emergency aid for yesterday,” said the president.
But what appears is that the government has been under political pressure to act in relation to people who are extremely vulnerable and who are not part of Bolsa Família.
The new president of the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco is also in favor of returning the benefit. He defends the extension of emergency aid from the approval of proposals that reconcile social assistance, the maintenance of the spending ceiling and fiscal responsibility.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, affirms that the focus of the new emergency aid will have to be in the “invisible”, as he calls low-income families.
Internally, they have given a new name to the emergency aid, Benefit for Productive Inclusion (BIP). The idea is to restrict the payment of the benefit to some 30 million Brazilians, half of the 64 million who received the aid in the first rounds.
However, Guedes wants Congress to pass a “calamity clause” along with the so-called PEC of the Federative Pact, to allow spending to stay outside the spending ceiling.
Now we just have to wait, whether the government wants it or not, they will have to return with emergency help.
