The bill is expected to be voted on in February 2021.
New benefits
If the proposal is accepted by the Federal Government, Bolsa Família will be replaced by 3 new grants, as follows:
- Minimum income benefit (BRM): up to R $ 125 per person, with the expectation that 13.2 million families can be served with an average amount of R $ 230;
- Savings on family insurance (PSF): intended for people with income up to R $ 780, with a deposit of up to 15% of the declared value of the worker’s income;
- Saving More Education (SME): R $ 20 per student enrolled in the educational network.
In the case of Poupança Seguro Família, the amount to be released would be in an individual account, being fully invested in National Treasury bonds.
However, if the beneficiary can only withdraw the amount in the event of a public calamity recognized by the Union, this case includes, for example, the pandemic. In addition, the fall in monthly income from work per capita that the family receives may make it possible to withdraw the benefit.
