Ten arrest warrants and 14 search and seizure warrants are being executed by the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service this Thursday (21) in Dourados, 233 km from Campo Grande, in Operation Viagem Santa. The objective is to dismantle a gang of drug traffickers.

The recipients are owners and employees of tourist travel companies, one of which is Euro Tur, which transports the faithful for visits to the Aparecida sanctuary (SP) and tourists for shopping in the capital of São Paulo. The buses that transported these people also served to ship cocaine and marijuana.

OR Campo Grande News found that the investigation that culminated in today’s operation began in December 2018, after the PRF (Federal Highway Police) police station in Dourados received information about the drug transport scheme in buses and the laundering of illicit money through tourist trips. The PF police station was informed and details of the scheme that had already been investigated by the PRF were shared with the Federal Police.

According to the Federal Police, at least 86 federal police officers and servers of the Federal Tax Service execute the orders this Thursday. In Dourados, the teams are in various locations, including the company’s garage, located at Rua Araguaia, at Jardim Santo André, and at another Euro Tur address at Rua Onofre Pereira de Matos. Orders are also being carried out in Deodápolis.

In addition to the arrests and raids, the PF kidnaps and blocks R $ 10 million in personal property, real estate belonging to the criminal organization and amounts deposited in bank accounts of those investigated. Twelve buses valued at R $ 11 million are also being seized. The 44 court orders were issued by the 2nd Criminal Court of Durados.

In 2019, a joint action by the Federal Police and the PRF seized half a ton of cocaine transported in the hidden compartment of a company tour bus. During the investigations there were two other seizures with almost 400 kilograms of marijuana, also in passenger transport vehicles, all bound for São Paulo.

According to the PF, all the companies involved in the seizures are based in Dourados. During the arrests, only the drivers of the vehicles were in charge of transporting the drugs.

However, as the investigations deepened, the police discovered the existence of a criminal organization specialized in transporting the Dourados to São Paulo, where the drugs were unloaded.

“The criminal organization set up a network of front companies to launder drug money, in addition to passenger transport companies, whose vehicles were used to transport drugs,” says the PF.
