Brazil reached the moving average of 988 deaths per day in the last week, the highest level since August 22. According to the press consortium of which UOL is a member, the country registered 1,115 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the country has an acceleration of 58% in the number of deaths in the variation of 14 days.

This is the fifth consecutive day that the country has more than a thousand new deaths. Two weeks after Christmas, the country once again accelerated in the moving average of deaths, consolidating the forecast of the specialists of the impact of the holidays on the disease figures.

Confirming the prognosis of infectious disease specialists, the country accelerated again two weeks after the start of the Christmas season. The trend is for the numbers to grow even more in the coming days.

No descending state

The country remains without any state that has shown a drop in the moving average, an unprecedented feat as of this week. Sixteen states and the Federal District experienced an acceleration, while ten maintained stability.

Among the regions, all showed acceleration: Midwest (19%), Northeast (26%), North (112%), Southeast (84%) and South (38%).

Health data

The Ministry of Health released today the record of 1,171 new deaths caused by the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Since the start of the pandemic, the disease has killed 202,631 people across the country.

From yesterday to today, 62,290 more cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in Brazil. The total number of infected people amounted to 8,075,998.

The most recent data indicates the third day of this week with the highest number of new positive diagnoses in the period. On Thursday (7), Brazil broke a record by surpassing the mark of 87 thousand registered cases.

According to the federal government, 7,114,011 people recovered from the disease, and another 729,356 were followed.

Salud will distribute CoronaVac

The Ministry of Health previously said that it closed an agreement with the Butantan Institute, in São Paulo, to distribute vaccines against the new coronavirus exclusively through the SUS (Unified Health System) to all states, simultaneously.

The folder reported that the free vaccination campaign should begin “as soon as the immunizers receive authorization from Anvisa.”

Yesterday, Butantan asked Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) to apply doses of CoronaVac, developed in collaboration with the Chinese laboratory Sinovac. Anvisa is expected to comment on the order within 10 days.

“Thus, Brazilians throughout the country will receive the vaccine simultaneously, within the integrated and tripartite logistics, carried out by the Ministry of Health and the Health Secretariats of the States and Municipalities,” the Ministry of Health said in a note. .

The ministry informed that the doses will be distributed proportionally to the population of the states, which will make the distribution among the municipalities.

Experts indicate the calculation of the moving average

To measure the situation of deaths from covid-19, experts indicate using the moving average of deaths, which calculates the average of records observed in the last seven days. The operation is the most suitable to observe the trend of the statistics, since it balances the abrupt variations of the numbers throughout the week.

The media consortium adopted this period to verify fluctuations in the moving average. We can speak of a drop in figures when the drop is greater than 15% if it is verified in the last 14 days, in this case the period of the last two weeks. If the numbers rise more than 15%, the epidemic accelerates. Intermediate values indicate stability.
