Atlético agreed on Monday (4) to terminate the contract with football director Alexandre Mattos. According to the club, the breaking of the link is “the result of a decision of the special collegiate body”, made up of the president Sérgio Coelho, the vice president José Murilo Procópio and the advisers and supporters Rubens Menin, Ricardo Guimarães, Renato Salvador and Rafael Menin.
“By decision of this body, it was decided to form a team of leaders in accordance with the administrative profile and purposes of this newly created council,” the club said in a note.
As verified by the report of the Itatiaia, Mattos was at the Lourdes headquarters, in the Central-South region of Belo Horizonte, for a quick meeting this morning, when the breach of the contract was agreed.
The strongest name to replace Mattos is Rodrigo Caetano, who recently left Internacional, where he remained from 2018 to 2020.
At 5 pm on Monday, President Sérgio Coelho participates in the inauguration ceremony. There is the expectation to announce some definitions about the work team, mainly about the main directors.
